Shari Sowder died at the age of 69, after a three-year fight with Breast Cancer.
She was a faithful member of Faith United Church of Christ, and a practicing Christian most of her adult life. Ministers special to her: Pastors Don Crismon, Charles Jordan, Kurt Walker, and Scott Simmons.
She grew up in Indianapolis. Shari and her mother later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. After her HS Graduation and a previous marriage, Shari and her daughter Karianne relocated back to Indy to live with her Grandmother. She was a licensed Hairdresser and loved it. She also loved sewing and opened her own business “Stitching by Shari” in 1989.
Shari loved her husband Stan Sowder very much, and he was very much in love with her for their 46 years together. She amazed him with her beauty, wit, & invaluable memory. Her passion was enjoying her children and especially her grandchildren. She loved to give advice about coping with the world as it changed.
Shari loved to be involved with her Family, Faith United Church of Christ, and her Sewing business. Shari really missed her good friend Carol Brunson who was always there to talk to about life and issues, until her death several years ago.
Shari is survived by her husband Stan, daughters Cindy (Chris) O’Connor & Kari Sowder, Sons: Daniel Sowder & Chris Sowder, her seven grandchildren: Rachel; Chloe, Addison, Caleb, Alice, Henry, & Ethan.
Shari was a mother that her children & grandchildren loved to talk to and she will be missed greatly by all.
A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Faith United Church of Christ, 4040 Thompson Rd, Indianapolis. The family will greet friends after the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be left online at indianafuneralcare.com.
